my car makes a loud humming noise when i accelerate, which in turns makes the car vibrate a little?

Gerardo Greist: It would really help if you gave us an idea if you drive the same kind of car as Bob does. Assuming you drive a fwd car , there is a chance that one or more motor/trans mounts may be worn or broken. Have it checked out.

Gene Debell: could be a wheel bearing, a bad motor mount, if it's front wheel drive it could even be an axle rubbing on the frame (hince a bad motor mount), etc it's hard to say without hearing it myself

Janeen Perona: maybe its coldmy car makes noise when its cold

Fritz Sisomphou: Lol, I heard that it is possible to wreck the alternator reving it high with a dead battery as it over works the alternator. Check PS fluid as when that is low it makes a noise.

Georgianna Zollo: my car did the same thing it was the front wheelbearing

Armando Somes: Two possiblities...... 1) bad alternator bearings (replace alternator) 2) bad belt tensioner pulley As to the a/c system, it may have a compressor clutch that is going ! bad (clutch is replaceable separately from the compressor). Probably a good idea to be suspicious of the car......have a good shop check it out.
