Are Smart Cars safe to drive?

Sheldon Lally: I would say there's NO WAY those cars would be safe in an accident. Not only that, they have a reputation for being unreliable, and don't get really good MPG.........so why would anyone want one?"the laws of physics can't be repealed," said Russ Rader of the Arlington, Va.-based Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Vern Serratos: They are adequately safe to DRIVE on the highway, but I'm not so sure about crashing in one. I'd want a bit more steel out in front of me

Sonya Volcko: Very Safe! Also you go 530kms. on a tank of gas

Kenneth Queener: They are safer than any other car. They are designed to meet the same safety requirements as any other car. If they were thought to be as safe as any other car, then they would be equally safe. However, because they are incorrectly thought to be not safe, ! they make drivers be more careful, which makes them safer.
