Who thinks optical illusions are cool??

Robin Marchione: An optical illusion characterized by visually perceived images that, at least in common sense terms, are deceptive or misleading. so the information gathered by the eye is processed by the brain to give, on the face of it, a percept that does not tally with a physical measurement of the stimulus source. A conventional assumption is that there are physiological illusions that occur naturally and cognitive illusions that can be demonstrated by specific visual tricks that say something more basic about how human perceptual systems work.Cognitive illusions are commonly divided into ambiguous illusions, distorting illusions, paradox illusions, or fiction illusions.Well-known illusions include:Ames room illusion Ames trapezoidal window illusion Benham's top Bezold Effect Cafe wall illusion Chubb illusion Cornsweet illusion Ebbinghaus illusion Ehrenstein illusion Fraser spiral illusion Grid illusion Hering illusion Hermann grid illusion Hollow-Face illusion Illu! sory figure Impossible trident illusion Isometric illusion Jastrow illusion Kanizsa triangle Lilac chaser Mach bands Missing square puzzle Moon illusion Motion aftereffect Muller-Lyer distortion illusion Necker cube illusion Orbison illusion Penrose triangle aka Impossible triangle illusion Peripheral drift illusion Phi phenomenon Poggendorff illusion Ponzo illusion Pulfrich effect or Pulfrich pendulum illusion Rubin vase Same color Sander illusion Simultaneous brightness contrast Size-weight illusion Stroop effect White's illusion Wundt illusion Zollner illusion...Show more

Maritza Ebanks: I'd explain to the blind person that it's like feeling something, only to find out it's something completely different. As an artist, I tend to keep to exactly what I see, simply because to put out my real thoughts, the ones that chase each other around and eat on my brain, would be chaos and I would never be happy with it.However, as a writer/debater, I attempt to point out every ! side I know of, and my specific reasons for choosing one side.! I don't think our minds adjust automatically; I think that it will click in right away, but it won't actually take root and start growing for a while, because sometimes you need to ponder them. However, visually new ideas, such as new perceptions to an illusion, may be already noticed in your unconcious, but only brought to life when either someone points it out or your concious mind grasps something and manages to pull it out....Show more

Jeremy Donohue: Try and write about this, and maybe in the process you can figure out what it is. It happens in nature, and it can also be made by a person, it can be seen by two people, but if one of them walks around behind it, they can`t see it anymore, but the person who did not move can still see it. Also, watch the movie "Mask" w/Eric Stoltz and Cher, watch the part where he is describing clouds, colors and stuff, i think that may give you an insight into how to describe things to alter others perceptions. If ya can`t figure ! out what i described earlier, shoot off a note to me, and i will let you know....Show more
