Eli Trapeni: Curry is Indian and they often use chicken. It's Buddhists who aren't supposed to eat meat (although many people who claim to be Buddhist have been known to eat meat sometimes).
Buddy Ardd: India is made up of caste. The highest caste is the Brahmins who are the priest etc and of course the lowest caste is the Sakyas or the very poor. All the Brahmins are vegetarian and sometimes like everywhere in the world too people chose to be vegetarian for people who are against killing animals, health and religious reasons etc. and those whose choice to be non vegetarian or pescetarian etc. but particularly in India the Brahmins are all vegetarian '

Timmy Bustard: India has many people and many religions, some of which have dietary proscriptions. Hindus don't eat beef. Muslims don't eat pork. Chicken, fish and lamb are usually safe bets. Having said that, India! n cuisine does have many vegetable (not necessarily vegetarian) dishes, which are popular for reasons of cost.
