Can you tell me the difference between Advertising, propaganda and advertising...?

Neely Youngblut: Advertising is done by companies to make people buy their productsPropaganda is done by the government to make citizens support their country through buying bonds or generally just supporting their nation

Jose Bouliouris: In my opinion, both of them is to provide information. However, advertisment is an attempt to get you to purchase a product, while propaganda is an attempt to change your personal beliefs or values. Leif Andreason: Now everything you ask for, has its base in the Meida and communication. Propaganda - is where the news, the story originates and is leaked from the source it self.! During election, the cadidates pay for the TV commercials, direct mailers, election rallies - that is propaganda - some times paid, some times free, sometimes by chance'. Propaganda is clearly a part of Public Relations Excercise. BIAS - is a tilt toward certain thing, party or candidate or product. In theory journalism is the fourth pillar of democracy, and like judiciary should be impartitial in it reporting - which is rarely the case. You'll always find one paper or the other, one journalist or the other plugging for someone - whomever they like - whatever the reasons, political, monetary, personal. ADVERTISING - as the word clearly depicts is Media space, for which payment has to be made. It comes with a clear and implicit understanding that it has no Editorial or policy matter support and edoresement from the organisation. That is why, if you'll notice, many advertisements which are made to look like editorial matter, always have the words ADVT - even though in small ! letters, printed at the bottom of such a report....Show more
